Ether

Black Noise 4HP

Balanced output stage for Eurorack. Mono inputs normal to stereo, main and headphone levels are independent, and the module is calibrated for low-noise line and headphone duty.

Direct studio feed
Patch a stereo mix into MONO IN L/R · set MAIN for interface headroom · send BAL OUT L/R to the audio interface or monitor controller · Ether becomes the rack-to-studio bridge.

Cue mix
Use the headphone output as a second stereo monitor feed · MAIN sends to front-of-house while PHONES drives a private cue mix for headphones or in-ear monitoring.

Mono synth to stereo rig
Feed a mono voice into the left input only · the right channel normaling copies it through · the resulting stereo feed lands in the DAW or a live mixer with one cable less.

Pedal interface
Patch a modular voice into Ether and send the balanced outputs into a pedal chain or recording rig · the module provides the level matching and low-noise output stage needed for external processing.

Behaviors

Mono normaling leave MONO IN R unpatched

The right input normalizes to the left, so a mono source becomes a stereo feed without a patch cable.

Separate monitor levels adjust MAIN and PHONES independently

The line outputs and headphone amplifier have separate level controls, so the monitor mix and cue mix can be trimmed independently.

Balanced line drive route BAL OUT L/R to external gear

The balanced outputs are tuned for studio and live audio gear, reducing hum and ground-loop issues over longer cable runs.

Headphone alternate output use HEADPHONE OUT as a line tap

The headphone amp can serve as a second stereo output when an alternate feed is useful.

Input metering audio present on the inputs

The two LEDs monitor the incoming level, giving a quick check for signal presence and overdrive without patching a meter.

Controls

Global MAIN Sets the balanced line-output level.
independent volume control · calibrated for +10 dBu max
Global PHONES Sets the headphone amplifier level.

I/O

IN · 2

  • MONO IN L eurorack audio AUDIO
Main audio input. A mono source patched here is copied to the right channel when the right input is empty.
  • MONO IN R eurorack audio AUDIO
Right audio input. Normalled to the left input when unpatched.
    NORM → MONO IN L

OUT · 3

  • BAL OUT L line level AUDIO
Balanced left line output for mixers, interfaces and long cable runs.
  • BAL OUT R line level AUDIO
Balanced right line output for mixers, interfaces and long cable runs.
  • HEADPHONE OUT headphone level
Stereo headphone output with its own level control.
