Behaviors

Random melody generator PULSE → TRIG (internal) · WHITE → SAMPLE IN (normal)

Internal clock triggers S&H which samples white noise, producing stepped random voltages at HOLD. Route to VCO for random notes.

Clocked S&H external clock → TRIG

External clock replaces internal pulse for S&H sampling. Any signal at SAMPLE IN is sampled on each clock pulse.

Smooth random CV HOLD → SLEW IN (normal)

SLEW output provides a portamento-smoothed version of the HOLD stepped output. Adjust SLEW TIME to set smoothness.

Portamento pitch CV → SLEW IN

With a pitch CV patched into SLEW IN, SLEW OUT adds portamento/glide. Adjust SLEW TIME for glide speed.

Controls

Clock / Random Pulse Rate Sets pulse rate in CLOCK mode or pulse probability in RANDOM mode.
CLOCK: 15s/pulse (CCW) to 2.5kHz (CW) · RANDOM: low probability to dense static
Pulse generator Clock/Random Switch Selects between steady metrical clock and random-probability pulse generation.
CLOCK = regular tempo · RANDOM = probabilistic bursts
S&H Sample/Track Switch SAMPLE: samples SAMPLE IN on rising pulse edge, holds until next pulse. TRACK: samples on falling edge, holds while pulse is low.
SAMPLE = classic S&H · TRACK = semi-rhythmic passthrough
Slew Slew Time Sets slew rate: how quickly output voltage follows input changes.
Nearly instant (CCW) to ~1 second per 5V change (CW)

  • TRIG trigger/gate GATE
    External clock/trigger input. Overrides internal pulse generator for S&H clocking.
  • SAMPLE IN any CV or audio CV
    Signal to be sampled or tracked. Defaults to WHITE noise output when unpatched.
    NORM → WHITE noise output
  • SLEW IN any CV CV
    Signal to be slewed. Defaults to HOLD output when unpatched.
    NORM → HOLD output

    Pulse output from internal clock or random generator.
  • PINK analog noise
    Pink noise output. Equal power per octave; darker, deeper sound.
  • WHITE analog noise
    White noise output. Equal power per frequency; brighter, full-spectrum.
  • HOLD stepped CV CV
    Sampled (or tracked) output of the sample & hold circuit.
  • SLEW any CV CV
    Slewed version of SLEW IN (defaults to HOLD output). Smooth stepped random voltages.
