Behaviors

16-tap spectral delay FX ON (delay)

16 time-delayed taps, each with independent level, pan, 2nd-order filter (LP/BP/HP/None), granular pitch shift ±16 semitones, and fine detune. Taps sum into stereo output — a full granular/spectral delay in one module.

16 groove rhythms GROOVE TYPE parameter

Straight, Swing, Hard Swing, Reverse Swing, Alternate Swing, Accelerando, Ritardando, Waltz, Half Swing, Roller Coaster, Quintuple, 3× Uniform Random, Early/Late Reflection. GROOVE AMT blends between Straight and selected — 0=even, 100=full groove.

Per-tap pitch stacks TAP STACK parameter (panel silkscreen reads PILES; renamed to STACK in firmware v1.05+)

Each tap can become a chord of multiple pitched copies at one time slot. Create four-note harmonized echoes or simulate a chord on every delay tap. Combine with pitch ramp for arpeggiated stacks.

Reverse mode TRIG operation = Reverse or REVERSE+WET/DRY encoder

Plays the delay buffer backwards through the tap structure. Combine with long delay times and pitch shift for spectral reverse-reverb trails.

64-tap comb resonator FX ON (comb)

Separate 64-tap delay line summed for comb/reverberation effects. Active tap count adjustable 1–64. 16 tap patterns (Uniform, Flat Middle, Early Comb, Fibonacci, Flat Comb, Late Comb, Rev Fib, Ess, plus 8 randomized variants).

Karplus-Strong strings Comb FB config = Guitar/Sitar/Clarinet/Raw + 1V/OCT

Comb section emulates plucked strings. Short input bursts excite the comb; 1V/OCT input tracks pitch. Feedback config changes timbre: Guitar (exponential averaging, no nonlinearity), Sitar (comb size modulated by rectified input — curved-bridge effect), Clarinet (odd-harmonic nonlinearity in feedback path — hollow/squarewave character), Raw (tap 64 fed directly back, no filter or nonlinearity).

Four routing modes ROUTING+CONFIG

DLY→CMB: delay feeds comb (serial). CMB→DLY: comb feeds delay. DLY+CMB: parallel sum. L:DLY R:CMB: stereo split — mono delay left, mono comb right.

Trigger modes (15+) TRIG jack + ROUTING+CONFIG

Freeze, Reverse, Randomize, Delay/Comb Mute, Delay/Comb Bypass, Ping Input, Shaped Pulse, Toggle Ping-Pong, Gated Freeze, Gated Reverse, Preset Load, Clear Buffer. Trigger jack assigned to one mode at a time.

Randomization surgery RAND DESTINATION + encoder press (or TRIG)

Randomize only selected parameter set: groove times, tap mutes, levels, pans, filter cutoffs, Qs, types, pitch shifts, detunes, all taps, all delay, all taps+delay, all comb, all delay+comb, all, or random-of-above. Surgical generative variation.

Time modulation LFO TIME MOD WAVE/LEVEL/RATE

Dedicated LFO modulates delay tap time. Waveforms: Sinusoid, Triangle, Vibrato 1, Vibrato 2, Down Chirp, Up Chirp, Random. LEVEL sets modulation amplitude · RATE sets period (Hz display).

Pitch tap (tap#) feedback TAP# encoder

Selects which of the 16 taps feeds back to input. Different tap choice changes the rhythmic regeneration interval — short tap = fast flutter, long tap = slow looping echoes. SLIP offsets fractional timing.

128 factory presets LOAD + encoder

128 non-volatile slots, all overwritable. Factory-filled with presets 1–69 + 82–128 named (Krellverb, Karplus, Spiral, AllTapz, Alienizer, etc.); slots 70–81 ship blank for your own patches. Presets 82–128 were designed by Richard Devine. MIDI SysEx export/import.
