Multi-modeled stereo character delay with reverb. Three delay models (TAPE, BBD, DIGI) with per-model COLOR degradation; built-in syncable modulator (7 waveshapes + wow/flutter + envelope followers); feedback-loop VCF; spacious Fog reverb with repositionable signal-chain insertion.

Behaviors
TAPE emulates reel-to-reel warmth with saturation and drift. BBD emulates bucket-brigade companding with sample-rate instability. DIGI is clean digital — COLOR becomes bit-crush/SR reduction at extreme settings.
BBD freeze accumulates signal loss (limited sample rate). TAPE freeze holds better but slowly saturates. DIGI freezes the buffer exactly and is immune to modulation/time changes while frozen.
Filters sit inside the delay feedback path — repeats progressively darken/thin each pass. Ideal for dub-style cascading tone changes. When frozen, the VCF moves outside the loop and affects only the output.
PONG sums L+R to mono and ping-pongs two serial delays. T:W runs delays in parallel with right offset by WIDTH. L/R runs both delays fully independently for true stereo — WIDTH/R directly sets right time.
Routes L feedback into R input and vice versa. Creates swapping stereo echoes; combined with L/R stereo config yields complex criss-crossing repeats.
IN position lets reverb feed the delay — reverb builds into each repeat. DLY position puts reverb only on wet signal. MIX position applies reverb post-mix, affecting wet and dry together.
MOD waveform becomes an envelope follower on the input signal. EF+ modulates delay time with input loudness (dynamic pitch bends); EF- inverts. RATE slider sets follower response speed.
Classic tape mechanical pitch instability. RATE slider balance between wow (slow drift) and flutter (fast warble). Combined with TAPE model gives convincing vintage tape flavour.
Cycles AUX CV destination through 5 parameters: Drive (magenta), Noise (yellow), MOD wave (white), Fog (green), Mix (blue). One CV lane for whichever parameter you need.
Feedback goes to 160%, producing self-sustaining swells that increase in volume. Use HPF/LPF to tame frequency buildup; long-press DELAY SYNC to clear the buffer.
Dedicated MOD output delivers the selected waveshape at full ±10V amplitude — ignores MOD DEPTH. Makes Sealegs a clock-syncable LFO/S&H source for the rest of the rack.
Controls
| Global input | DRIVE | Combination input level and overdrive. CCW = muted · noon = unity · CW past noon overdrives the delay. LED shows overdrive amount. ALT + DRIVE sets input trim (0.5×–2.5×) · DRIVE position switch moves it in the chain |
| Global | FREEZE / ALT | Tap to toggle delay freeze (loop the buffer indefinitely). Hold = ALT modifier for grey secondary parameters on other controls. Tap = freeze · hold = ALT modifier |
| Global | NOISE / MODE | Amount of hiss/crackle noise injected into the signal. ALT-held: selects noise mode — pre-delay hiss / crackle / post-delay hiss. Standard = level · ALT = mode · noise type varies across knob sweep |
| Global reverb | FOG / DECAY | Reverb (Fog) level. ALT + FOG knob sets reverb decay time. Standard = level · ALT = decay |
| Signal chain | FOG/DRIVE POSITION switch | Moves Fog insertion point. IN = pre-delay · DLY = post-delay/pre-mix (wet only) · MIX = post-mix (affects wet + dry). ALT-hold moves DRIVE position instead. 3-position · stored at power-off |
| Global | TAP TEMPO / AUX DEST | Tap to set delay time when DELAY SYNC or MOD SYNC is active. ALT + tap cycles AUX CV destination (Drive, Noise, Mod, Fog, Mix). AUX dest indicated by colour flash |
| Global | DELAY SYNC / FB CROSS | Tap = toggle delay sync to external clock or tap tempo. ALT + tap = toggle Crossed Feedback — L feedback feeds R input and vice versa. Long-press >1s clears delay buffer |
| MOD section | MOD SYNC / MOD PHASE | Tap = sync MOD RATE to clock/tap. ALT + tap = phase-invert internal MOD on right channel only (not MOD OUT jack). Affects oscillating waveshapes only · W&F and EF do not sync |
| Global output | MIX | Wet/dry blend. CCW = dry only · CW = wet only. Send/Return mode (hold DELAY SYNC on boot) removes dry entirely |
| AUX CV | AUX CV attenuverter | Scales ±polarity of AUX CV. Full CW = positive unity · noon = zero · full CCW = inverted unity. Bipolar |
| Delay | TIME/L slider | Primary (or left) delay time. Free range depends on TIME RANGE switch; sync mode offers quarter-note to 64th-note divisions. 3.125ms–6s free · clock-synced divisions up to x4/-64 |
| Delay | WIDTH/R slider | Second delay time. PONG/T:W: offsets right delay 0–33% relative to left. L/R: sets right delay time independently. Behavior depends on STEREO CONFIG switch |
| Delay | FB slider | Feedback amount — up to 160% allows runaway self-oscillation swells. 0–160% · short times = flange · long = patterns |
| Delay CV | TIME/WIDTH/FB CV attenuverters | Each attenuverts its CV input. Noon = no CV · CCW = inverted. Per-slider bipolar |
| Delay | TIME RANGE switch | L = long (200ms–6s) · M = med (50ms–1.5s) · S = short (3.125–93.75ms). When synced, L/M/S selects whole/16th/64th note base. 3-position |
| Delay routing | STEREO CONFIG switch | PONG (top) = serial ping-pong · T:W (mid) = parallel, WIDTH offsets right · L/R (bottom) = parallel with independent L and R times. 3-position |
| Delay | MODEL switch | TAPE (top) = tape emulation · BBD (mid) = bucket-brigade · DIGI (bottom) = digital. COLOR slider degrades model-specifically. 3-position |
| MOD section | MOD RATE slider | Sets LFO rate for oscillating MOD waves, envelope-follower response rate, or wow vs flutter balance for W&F. 0.1Hz–40Hz free · synced musical divisions |
| MOD section | MOD DEPTH slider | Depth of internal MOD modulation on Delay Time. Does not affect MOD OUT jack which is always full amplitude. 0–100% |
| MOD section | MOD knob | MOD waveshape select. Standard: morphs through W&F, EF-, EF+, LFV, S&H, SQ, SINE, SAW, TRI, RAMP. ALT + turn: snaps to discrete waveform. Continuous crossfade · ALT = stepped |
| Character section | COLOR slider | Adds model-dependent degradation. TAPE = drag/dropouts · BBD = companded noise, clock instability · DIGI = bit-crush, sample-rate reduction. Model-dependent |
| Character VCF (in feedback loop) | HIGHPASS FREQ slider | VCF highpass cutoff. Inside the feedback loop — each repeat darkens/thins cumulatively. Outside the loop when FREEZE is active. 6dB/oct |
| Character VCF (in feedback loop) | LOWPASS FREQ slider | VCF lowpass cutoff. Combined with highpass defines the feedback bandwidth. 6dB/oct |
| Character CV | COLOR/HPF/LPF CV attenuverters | Each attenuverts its corresponding CV input. Per-slider bipolar |
