8-voice polyphony with PoliMATHS
Uses the N.U.S.S. header chain: PoliMATHS selects a channel on MultiWAVE while its own envelope outputs gate that voice's level on QXG.
Walkthrough
  1. Press MODE on MultiWAVE until the Span Activity Window is WHITE (Channel Index mode).
  2. Set SPAN knob to 12:00 and SPAN CV attenuverter fully clockwise (translates Channel Index voltages 1:1).
  3. Connect PoliMATHS CHANNEL INDEX OUT into MultiWAVE SPAN CV input.
  4. Patch keyboard/MIDI 1V/oct into MultiWAVE TRPS — this transposes all 8 voices of Osc B at once.
  5. Set BLEND around noon so both Osc A and Osc B are audible per channel.
  6. Connect the MultiWAVE rear header ribbon to the QXG signal header (channels 1–8 become QXG signal ins 1–8).
  7. Connect the PoliMATHS rear header ribbon to the QXG control header (envelopes 1–8 become QXG VCA CVs 1–8).
  8. Play keys — PoliMATHS steals a voice per note, gates it through QXG, and MultiWAVE voices the pitch.
Signal out QXG main out — full 8-voice polyphonic voice-card, envelope-shaped.
Listen for A polysynth where every note steals the next free voice. Raise DETUNE slightly for analog chorus, or sweep SPREAD for per-voice timbral drift.

Harmonic oscillator drone
DETUNE fully CW stretches the 8 voices into a harmonic series instead of chorus — sequence TRPS to transpose the whole stack.
Walkthrough
  1. Turn DETUNE fully clockwise — Osc B on each channel now sits on a different integer harmonic of the root.
  2. Set BLEND at noon so both oscillator banks are heard.
  3. Set Osc A FOLLOW to GREEN (Integer Multiply) so Osc A also locks to musical ratios of Osc B.
  4. Patch a slow sequencer CV into MultiWAVE TRPS (the 1V/oct global transpose).
  5. Leave Activate, Accumulate, Reset unpatched so all eight channels stay on continuously.
  6. Sum channel outputs 1–8 into a mixer — or press PAGE 2 + MODE (Span LED green) and take OUT 5 (Osc A mono mix) + OUT 6 (Osc B mono mix).
  7. Slowly turn DETUNE back CCW and hear the harmonic stack collapse into unison chorus.
Signal out Summed channel outs 1–8 (or Page 2 mono mixes on 5/6) — a rich additive harmonic tone.
Listen for A pipe-organ/harmonica-like drone where each voice is a tuned partial. Transposing TRPS moves the whole harmonic series together; DETUNE CCW morphs it back toward a detuned unison pad.

Drifting polyphonic pad with Spread
Round mode cycles voices from a single clock; a slow LFO into SPREAD CV distributes modulation unevenly across the 8 channels.
Walkthrough
  1. Press MODE until the Span Activity Window is YELLOW (Round mode).
  2. Set SPAN to 1 so each incoming trigger advances by one channel (simple round-robin).
  3. Set BLEND at noon and MOD TIME slow (CCW of noon).
  4. Pick a wavetable on Page 2 — PURPLE (Additive) or ORANGE (Organs) works well for pads.
  5. Patch a slow clock (~1–4 Hz) into ACTIVATE — each tick lights the next channel.
  6. Patch a slow LFO (~0.1 Hz) into SPREAD CV; set the SPREAD COMBO POT to act as attenuverter around noon.
  7. Sum channel outputs 1–8 into a mixer.
  8. Tweak the GOLD-legend attenuverters (A-WAVE, B-WAVE, MOD TIME, OSC A PITCH) to pick which parameters the Spread modulation reaches.
Signal out Summed channel outs 1–8 — an 8-voice evolving pad.
Listen for A lush chorused pad where each of the 8 voices slowly drifts through its wavetable at a different rate. Raise SPREAD depth for more divergence between voices.

Parallel-clock rhythmic wavetable
Parallel mode fires each channel at its own clock division of a master clock — turning MultiWAVE into an 8-voice rhythm generator.
Walkthrough
  1. Press MODE until the Span Activity Window is CYAN (Parallel mode).
  2. Set SPAN near 12:00 first (all channels on /1), then slowly turn it CCW to spread out divisions (Ch1 gets the largest, Ch8 the smallest).
  3. Patch a steady clock (16th-notes works well) into ACTIVATE.
  4. Patch the same clock into RESET every 1–2 bars so divisions stay phase-locked.
  5. Set BLEND at noon; pick a percussive wavetable on Page 2 (BLUE Make Noise or PINK Sync).
  6. Set OSC B PITCH to taste and turn DETUNE slightly CW for motion between voices.
  7. Take channel outs 1–8 into 8 separate mixer channels — or Page 2 outs 7 (odd) and 8 (even) for a stereo split.
  8. Nudge SPAN to re-map which channel plays which division.
Signal out Individual channel outs 1–8, or Page 2 odd/even sub-mixes on outs 7 & 8.
Listen for An 8-voice polyrhythm where each voice fires at a different clock division. Great for generative sequences and Reichian phasing.

Shift-register cascading arpeggio
Shift Register mode passes Modulation Dissemination values down the voice array each Activation, creating cascading timbral arpeggios.
Walkthrough
  1. Press MODE until the Span Activity Window is MAGENTA (Shift Register mode).
  2. Set SPAN clockwise to Channel 4 — shift register will run from Ch4 forward to Ch8.
  3. Patch a sequencer's CV out into OSC B V/OCT input — this CV seeds the shift register on each Activation.
  4. Patch a clock into ACTIVATE. Every trigger loads the current V/Oct into Ch4 and shifts old values down to Ch5/6/7/8.
  5. Set BLEND at noon. Turn OSC B WAVE attenuverter CW so wave position also shifts down the line.
  6. Optional: patch Reset occasionally to clear the register.
  7. Sum channel outputs 1–8 into a mixer — Ch1–3 hold static notes, Ch4–8 replay the last 5 sequencer notes in cascade.
Signal out Summed channel outs 1–8 — a static chord (Ch1–3) under a rippling 5-note echo (Ch4–8).
Listen for A shimmering 'delay-line of pitches': each new sequencer note pushes older notes further down the voice array and they slowly fade out.

Accumulate swelling chord
Stack multiple Activations in the Accumulate buffer, then trigger them all at once for a synchronized chord hit with overlapping Mod-Time motion.
Walkthrough
  1. Press MODE until the Span Activity Window is YELLOW (Round mode) and set SPAN to 1.
  2. Patch a note-rate trigger (e.g. keyboard gate) into ACTIVATE — each press stages a channel (it lights ORANGE, not played yet).
  3. Patch a slower clock (1/bar) into ACCUMULATE — on its tick all staged channels Activate together.
  4. Set BLEND at noon and MOD TIME slow.
  5. Turn DETUNE ~10 o'clock for analog-poly chorus.
  6. On Page 2 enable Quantization (Follow button → YELLOW) so all pitches lock to 12-TET, A=440.
  7. Sum channel outputs 1–8 into a mixer (or use Page 2 out 5/6 Osc A/B mixes).
Signal out Summed channel outs 1–8 — a chord hit that rearticulates on every ACCUMULATE gate.
Listen for Each pressed key stages a voice (orange LED); on every bar the chord recalls with all new notes at once, like stacking a sampler's poly hold.

Behaviors

Channel Index Mode Span control / CV

SPAN selects channel to Activate. Turn knob or send sequence to Activate channels in any order. Works with N.U.S.S. Channel Index output for module-to-module communication.

Round Mode trigger → Activate

Each trigger advances activation by Span channels. Span=1 means all 8 channels round-robin one at a time. Reset returns to Channel 1.

Parallel Mode trigger → Activate

Each channel activates at a clock division of the incoming trigger. Divisions are set by Span. Reset resets all clock division counters.

Shift Register Mode trigger → Activate

On each Activation, Modulation Dissemination values shift from the selected channel forward. Creates cascading arpeggio effects.

Spread Modulation Spread pot/CV

Distributes modulation across 8 channels in differing amounts to unpatched Spreadable parameters (Osc A Wave, Osc B Wave, Mod Time, Osc A Pitch) simultaneously from a single control. Up to 40 destinations weighted by the Spread direction.

Output Mixing (Page 2) Page 2 button

Mode button toggles output mixing. Outputs: 1-4=individual, 5=Osc A mono mix, 6=Osc B mono mix, 7=odd channels, 8=even channels.
