Behaviors
Each pot divides the common clock by its selected factor, generating up to six simultaneous related tempos from a single master clock.
Multiplying Clock A by 3 lets column A divide into non-standard ratios like 3/7 or transform 16th-note clocks into triplets. Essential for weird time signatures.
Reset jack repurposed as second clock input. Columns A and B then run on independent tempos, acting as two 3-output dividers with unrelated masters.
B4 becomes the clock source for B5 and B6. Creates compound divisions (e.g. B4=/5, B5=/4 → effective /20) for extremely long cycle times.
A2 output high only when both A2 divider and B5 divider are producing pulses simultaneously. Accents coincide with song-section boundaries.
A2 output fires on either A2 or A3 pulse. Merges two divisions into a single rhythmic trigger stream without external combiner.
B6 divider output doubles as reset pulse for column A (middle) or both columns (lower). Creates automatic phrase-length reset without patching a second clock divider.
Jumper converts B5/B6 from short triggers to square gates at their divided rate. Useful for gate sequencing from the long divisions.
Controls
| Column A | A1 Potentiometer | Selects divider factor for output A1: 1 through 8. /1 /2 /3 /4 /5 /6 /7 /8 · derives from Clock A input (with optional Multiply x3/x4) |
| Column A | A2 Potentiometer | Divider factor for A2: 1-8. When Logic A2 switch is active, A2 output is combined logically with B5 or A3. /1-/8 · Logic switch alters output: AND with B5 or OR with A3 |
| Column A | A3 Potentiometer | Divider factor for A3: 1-8. /1-/8 · participates in A2 OR A3 logic when switch is active |
| Column B | B4 Potentiometer | Divider factor for B4: 1-8. In middle Clock B switch position, B4 clocks B5 and B6 (instead of incoming clock) giving unusual time signatures. /1-/8 · can act as clock source for B5/B6 |
| Column B | B5 Potentiometer | Divider factor for B5: 1-32-64-128. Long division range suitable for song-length timing. /1 · /4 · /8 · /16 · /32 · /64 · /128 (range varies per pot map) |
| Column B | B6 Potentiometer | Divider factor for B6: same long-range as B5. Reset B6 switch routes B6 as reset signal for column A (middle) or both columns (lower). /1-/128 range · doubles as reset source via Reset B6 switch |
| Column A input | Multiply A Switch | Multiplies Clock A by x1, x3, or x4 before feeding column A dividers. Enables triplet decompositions (/3, /3/7 etc.) and 16th→triplet conversion. x1 (off) · x3 · x4 |
| Column B clocking | Clock B Switch | OFF (upper): both columns share Clock A. Middle: column B clocked from B4 output. Lower: Reset/In B jack becomes an independent clock input for column B. OFF · B4-clocks-B5/B6 · independent Clock B via jack 2 |
| Column A logic | Logic A2 Switch | OFF (upper): A2 acts as normal divider. Middle: A2 AND B5 (trigger only when both high). Lower: A2 OR A3 (trigger when either high). OFF · AND B5 · OR A3 |
| Reset routing | Reset B6 Switch | OFF (upper): B6 is a normal divider. Middle: B6 resets column A each hit. Lower: B6 resets both columns. OFF · B6 → reset A · B6 → reset A+B |
| Dividers 5 and 6 | Half-Period Jumper | Rear jumper configures B5 and B6 to produce half-period gates instead of triggers. Jumper ON = square gates at divided rate · OFF = short triggers on all outputs |
I/O
IN · 2
- Clock 0-5V CLKMaster clock into column A and (by default) column B. Multiply A switch processes this clock before division.
- Reset / Clock B 0-5V CLKDefault: resets every divider to step 1. With Clock B switch set to lower position, becomes an independent clock input for column B.
OUT · 6
- A1 0-5V GATEDivider A1 trigger output.
- A2 0-5VDivider A2 output. Combined with B5 (AND) or A3 (OR) when Logic switch is active.
- A3 0-5V GATEDivider A3 trigger output.
- B4 0-5V GATEDivider B4 trigger output. Can be internally routed as the clock source for B5/B6.
- B5 0-5V GATEDivider B5 trigger or half-period gate (jumper-dependent).
- B6 0-5V GATEDivider B6 trigger or half-period gate. Also routed as reset when Reset B6 switch is engaged (even while still acting as divider output).
